 What to expect from Indiana’s economy in 2022

COVID-19, labor shortages and supply chain issues will continue to challenge Indiana’s economy in 2022, though the state will remain somewhat resilient.

That’s the prognosis Indiana University economists delivered Thursday morning during the Kelley School of Business’s annual Business Outlook, a forward-looking report on how the state and national economies will fare over the next year. 

“We’re still an economy that’s in recovery from pandemic-related challenges,” Kyle Anderson, clinical assistant professor of business economics and faculty chair of the Evening MBA Program, said. “The way those challenges are playing out now is in supply-side shortages — disruptions in the supply chain and challenges in the labor market.”

Typically what’s happening in Indiana mirrors the national economy. However the forecast for next year includes some key differences.
