TAUNTON — The sale of a modest East Taunton home a few weeks ago illustrates once again how hot the local (and state, and national) real estate market has gotten.
The home, a 1,700-square-foot split-level home on Cains Hill Road with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a white picket fence, sold for $500,000 on Sept. 21, according to real estate and mortgage data firm The Warren Group.
The lovely home, built in 1990, has an in-ground swimming pool and a gorgeous kitchen with granite countertops.
The home’s price history on Zillow.com shows the property’s meteoric rise in value, on par with so many other properties in the city and in Massachusetts.
It was sold in 1990 for $133,000, in 2000 for $173,500, and in 2003 for $268,500. It was then listed for sale this summer at $459,900, before eventually selling for $500,000 — $40,000 over the original listing price.
