The offshore wind industry is being opened up to the next generation with an interactive visitor centre at Orsted’s £14 million East Coast Hub.
Located at the entrance to Grimsby’s Royal Dock, a huge swathe of the original operations and maintenance base has been transformed, with displays, activities and attention-grabbing headline statistics abounding about the burgeoning sector.
And with 500 people now employed at the hugely expanded site, and the wider Humber cluster set to swell from 2,000 to 10,000 employees in five years, the need to attract those currently mapping out career paths is clear.
Duncan Clark, Orsted’s UK head, opened the significant investment, complemented by dedicated training rooms and the potential of a simulation rig addition.
