 Longtime Lorain business owner Marie Bonaminio honored and remembered – Morning Journal

Marie Bonaminio was a longtime fixture in Lorain’s business community until she passed earlier this year.

Bonaminio was the proprietor of Bonaminio’s Lorain Flower Shop for nearly 50 years on West 21st street in Lorain.

She died Feb. 12 at age 95.

Her family threw an end-of-summer party to celebrate her life and the city she loved on Sept. 4 at Black River Landing.

“My mom loved Lorain,” said her son, James. O. Bonaminio. “She taught me how to be what I am, molded me to what I am and I’m very grateful.”

The celebration included live music by popular band Evil Ways, food vendors and dancing in honor of the legacy Bonaminio left behind.

The free event began at 5 p.m.

Rozzi Fireworks supplied Italian fireworks.
