 Local teachers create embroidery business

Two local teachers took their love for embroidered clothing and turned it into a business. Co-owners Lauren Cates and Anne-Courtney Feenick are two local math teachers who have created The Tailored Teachers, a custom embroidery boutique. 

The duo met teaching at Burns Middle School. During their lunch breaks they talked about how they loved embroidered clothing, but felt like there weren’t any affordable options. 

“We talked about how we both have always wanted to start a business, but didn’t have the equipment,” Cates said.

Cates said the next thing she knew Feenick called her saying she was picking up their first machine the next day. 

The pair agrees their number one priority is offering customers affordable, elegant, custom embroidery and sublimation. 

“We are currently working towards a mobile boutique so that we can appear at more pop-ups, markets and neighborhoods,” she said. “There are so…
