John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have slashed a hefty $6 million off of their Beverly Hills family mansion.
The couple first listed the home last summer for $23.95 million following the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The price dropped slowly over the past year and is now listed at $17.95 million.
“It was too aspirational to start with that high of a price,” Myra Nourmand, a principal and agent with Nourmand & Associates, told Realtor. Nourmand specializes in marketing and selling luxury properties from Beverly Hills to Malibu.
“They were competing with areas such as Beverly Hills proper and Bel-Air that have all sold in the $20 million-plus range,” she adds.
Legend, 42, and Teigen, 35, first purchased the home from Rihanna in 2014 for $14.1 million, where they proceeded to transform the home into their own ultra stylish abode — complete with the culinary touches Teigen is known for. Many of the home’s luxurious features served as the backdrop to her latest cookbook.
From the minimalist design that Rihanna left behind, the A-list couple designed the home to reflect warmer tones, including an upgraded kitchen that Teigen is not shy about using, often filming herself cooking on social media.
Spanning 8,520 square feet, the property is made up of seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
All of the bedrooms feature their own private balconies and en suite bathrooms.
The home’s entryway includes a dramatic 33-foot ceiling and sculptural staircase. Legend’s grand piano is observed in the main living area, along with a quaint fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows with canyon views.
The state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen is the backdrop to many of Tiegen’s cooking tutorials seen on her Instagram account, which includes three ovens, two stovetops, and a marble island.
Design details include patterned ceilings from Thailand, oak floors, clay and steel-rolled walls, and onyx sinks.
The master bedroom includes a brass and concrete fireplace and a makeup room, with newly designed closets “evocative of a Chanel showroom,” as the listing describes it.
Other amenities include a gym, home theater, a saltwater pool and hot tub, a wood-burning oven and chef’s grill, plus a grapevine-wrapped pergola.
While the pair wait for an offer to come through, the two have settled into a larger Beverly Hills mansion they purchased for $17.5 million in September.
Legend and Teigen share two children: 5-year-old daughter Luna, and two-year-old son Miles.
In September, Teigen revealed the heartbreaking news that she had suffered a miscarriage.
