There has been a lot of talk recently about a study published in Nature last week, which surveyed Californian EV owners and found that one in five went back to internal combustion after bad experiences with electric. Their chief reason was the hassle of charging. This has of course been picked up by journalistic publications as evidence that EVs are problematic. However, there are some obvious issues with the reasoning, and the study on which it is based. Charging an EV publicly is more hassle than putting fuel in an internal combustion car, but is it really such a dealbreaker? readmore
Baidu BIDU , the leading search engine in China, has launched a robotaxi service in Shougang Park - an industrial park on the outskirts of Beijing which will be a site for the 2022 winter Olympics. The Baidu Apollo project is one of the most established such efforts in China. It recently reported over 10m kilometers of on-road testing in China, the first Asian company to reach that level. According to the Guidehouse Insights Electric Vehicle Consumer Survey, the three biggest barriers to EV adoption are the cost of the vehicles, access to charging and time to charge. Like Tesla TSLA and Ford, GM is trying to improve access with the Ultium Charge 360 network that will include 60,000 chargers across the U.S. and Canada. Tesla tried to address charging readmore

The world’s second-biggest electric vehicle maker condemned the hostage taking in a short statement today. “The Renault Group strongly condemns these actions and calls for the lifting of the blockage readmore
