Hip-hop superstar Cardi B has had an eventful 24 hours after being involuntarily indoctrinated into WWE Twitter Monday night on Raw.
The Grammy-award winning rapper was name-dropped during the Legends Night broadcast of Raw, and after being inundated with tweets she played along, shouting out everybody from Vince McMahon to Sasha Banks.
Cardi B’s WWE tweets were not all positive, however, as Lacey Evans decided to jump into the fray and provoke Cardi B, even referencing Cardi’s rival Nicki Minaj, whom she had an altercation with during New York Fashion Week in 2018.
The NSFW exchange is below, and given the language used by Cardi B this hardly seems like a WWE concoction, though the promotion is likely to try to capitalize on the sudden mainstream attention by possibly booking Cardi B for a match.
Cardi B was referenced during a backstage segment featuring Torrie Wilson, Nikki Cross and Angel Garza, whom Wilson tricked into walking into the Boogeyan’s locker room by telling him Cardi B was there.
WWE is a sucker for clout, especially when it comes to mainstream coverage, and Cardi B’s willingness to play along—and clap back—only continues to lead to more mainstream press for WWE and its struggling viewership.
An admitted wrestling fan, although she did note that she has not watched in years, though with WrestleMania season around the corner, Cardi B has suddenly emerged as a candidate for a celebrity wrestling match the likes of Floyd Mayweather (WrestleMania 23), Snooki (WrestleMania 27) and Ronda Rousey (WrestleMania 34) before her.
Last night’s broadcast of Raw saw Lacey Evans pick up a surprising tag team victory after spending much of the match flirting with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
